SMPA Offers Members Continuing Legal Education Online
May 31, 2006 - The Smoky Mountain Paralegal Association (SMPA), an affiliated association of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA), has emphasised the importance of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) for the parlegal profession. Since many of SMPA's members are NALA certified and are required to earn CLE credits to maintain their Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) or Advanced Paralegal Certification (ACP) status, SMPA decided to offer rebroadcasts of its monthly CLE opportunities to its members online.
According to Cathy Hulsey, Second Vice President and Chair of the Membership Committee, "The rebroadcasts are an excellent way to offer our members, who cannot attend the meetings, a way to get their CLE."
Ms. Hulsey adds, "Rebroadcasting our meetings online has also created a kind of outreach program for us. Since we began offering the CLEs online, several certified paralegals from outside the Knoxville area have joined our association."
SMPA is continuously searching for new ways to promote the paralegal profession, support its members, and provided them the services they need to be successful in their profession.
